We acknowledge that we have made our homes on the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 Region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation, the Stoney Nakoda Nations (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations) and the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III.
At IABC/Calgary, we are taking a meaningful approach to land acknowledgements by sharing our history, our home and our intentions.
Our names are Kristin, Dennise, Reese, Natasha, Ghalib, Keith, Caroline, Selly, Danielle, Julia, Jose, Jamie Anne and Colleen.
We are settlers and descendants with blood from the Metis, Philippines, Spain, China, France, Iceland, Uganda, East Africa, Congo, Italy, Germany, America, Ireland, Norway, Russia, India and England running through our veins.
The intention of sharing this land acknowledgement is not to be the end of the conversation, but a commitment to continued learning and listening.
