At IABC/Calgary, we are taking a meaningful approach to land acknowledgements by sharing our history, our home and our intentions.
Our names are Reese, Kristin, Christina, Dennise, Amy, Lindsay, Shawna-Kay, Sarah, Kanika, Emily and Ukwori.
We are settlers and descendants with blood from the Metis, Philippines, Spain, China, France, Iceland, Italy, Germany, America, Ireland, Nigeria, Jamaica, India and England, running through our veins.
We are grateful to be here and acknowledge we have made our homes on the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 Region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III.
Our board is diverse and inclusive, and we are proud to create an environment that is representative of our individual and shared histories, experiences and perspectives.
Together, we are upholding IABC/Calgary’s tradition of cultivating our community and promoting our profession.
