Today’s workplace has many competing priorities. This makes it ever more challenging for senior communicators to gain commitment from top decision-makers for strategic communications initiatives. Using an effective “coaching” methodology to discuss your ideas improves the chance of gaining support and delivering positive results for the organization. Furthermore, the coaching method allows communicators to support others responsible for the organization’s strategic directions by assisting them in responding to issues.
The material from this seminar can be immediately applied on-the-job. Einblau & Associates aim to provide IABC members with skills training that they have proven is effective through their own lived experience. They have also taught this methodology to over 1800 organization leaders.
The workshop goals are:
- To provide senior communicators with a real-world, practical model of coaching upward to create more influence with top decision-makers
- To teach an easy-to-use process and demonstrate the skills involved
- To allow participants to apply the process and skills in a practice situation.
This workshop is three hours long and covers:
- Commitment versus motivation as a means to getting support for your ideas
- What communicators can do to positively influence commitment from decision-makers
- Helps and hindrances to successful coaching conversations
- Learning essential communication skills specific to coaching
- Creating effective opening statements and managing a successful conversation
- How this specific coaching methodology enables you to effectively handle resistance, defensiveness and other emotions that get in the way of getting support for your strategic ideas.
