On April 9, 2016, IABC Calgary hosted and administered its first Communication Management Professional (CMP) exam. Developed by the Global Communications Certification Council (GCCC), the CMP program uses International Standards Organization (ISO) guidelines and offers communications professionals a way to certify their knowledge and expertise.
The Calgary Chapter has supported the largest number of new CMPs be certified of anywhere in the IABC world so far. All 16 candidates who wrote this first CMP exam in Calgary passed, will receive certificates recognizing successful program completion, as well as have their names appear on the CMP register. Congratulations to the new CMP certification recipients and best of luck to you in your future endeavors!
The CMP certification, created with the help of IABC leadership and volunteers, was launched in the spring of 2015 with the objective to develop, mentor and certify mid-level communicators with five to seven years of generalist/specialist work experience. Since its inception, the certification has garnered its fair share of interest. In April 2016, IABC Calgary successfully administered its first CMP exam sitting and already has a second session scheduled for October 2016.
