Do you have a few hours to help some non-profit organizations who are in need of communications planning and advice?
IABC/Calgary recently relaunched our signature Gift of Communications program, and it was bigger and better. With partners such as the Calgary Chamber of Volunteer Organizations, The Calgary Foundation and Mount Royal University, and with the help of the dynamite volunteer duo, Doug Lacombe from Communicatto and Michelle Harris from Tapestry Communications, this year we received 31 applications.
In January, a panel of judges selected the top 6 entries, and the non-profit organizations pitched to the panel on why they should win the grand prize. To learn more on how that day went, check out Communicatto’s post here.
After some tough decision, we selected a grand prize winner and three runner ups. The grand prize winner went to the Sharp Foundation, where they will be getting a workshop, a communications plan and a 6-month follow up. The three runnerups will get a speed-dating style workshop where they will be able to get some advice on how to improve their communications plan.
All non-profit organizations are eager to get started and we are looking for communicators who are willing to volunteer their time and expertise.
For those who are CMPs and SCMPs, this would be a good opportunity to get some points to maintain your certification. The speed-dating style workshop is tentatively planned on Thursday March 19.
