IABC/Calgary is excited and proud to welcome Dennise Yambao to her new role as the incoming Vice President for our 2023-24 board year.

Dennise has served in critical roles for IABC/Calgary, first as Finance Manager in 2020-21 before moving into the Finance Director role she so excellently does today.

“The saying ‘You only get back what you put in’ pretty well sums up my experience with IABC Calgary,” Dennise explains. “From being a member in name only, to serving on the board for almost two years, I can genuinely say that my time as a director has been the most enriching part of my IABC journey so far—so much that I’d like to keep going!”

What Dennise brings to the table

With a master’s degree in Communications and Technology from the University of Alberta and more than 10 years of experience in MarComm in the financial services industry, Dennise was a natural to lead our finance portfolio over the last three years, and she is well-equipped to take on the challenges and opportunities that come with leading one of the largest IABC chapters in the world. She has demonstrated numerous strengths in her time on the board—everything from a strategic and critical mindset, to business and financial acumen, and patience and tenacity to get the job done.

And when she’s not busy leading our organization, Dennise enjoys staying active by playing tennis, working out, and learning how to ski (for the 10th winter in a row!).

Planning for the future of IABC/Calgary

Dennise’s knowledge, passion and experience are instrumental in achieving the goals she has set for term as VP and into her presidency. Among her top priorities are finding ways to diversify our revenue streams, building and nurturing partnerships within the community, and ensuring succession planning to ensure the longevity and sustainability of the organization.

“As one of the largest and most successful local chapters in IABC history, serving on the board is the most impactful way I can help to uphold our long legacy of excellence, not only to honour the efforts of those who got us here but also to ensure we’re creating value for Calgary communicators for a very long time,” says Dennise.

Her dedication and contributions to the organization have been invaluable, and we are excited to have Dennise’s continued leadership on the board. We are confident that her expertise and commitment will continue to drive IABC Calgary’s success and uphold our legacy of excellence.

Please join us in welcoming Dennise to her new role when she takes the VP seat on July 1!
