Hello member,
Over the past few days, you have likely received many emails updating you on what organizations are doing to support you, your colleagues and your loved ones through these unpredictable times. In fact, you may have even drafted one.
IABC/Calgary prides itself on connecting communicators to one another and creating a sense of community. However, given the recent COVID-19 events, we are re-examining our chapter priorities and actions to better serve you during the short and long-term.
To ensure the continued health and safety of our communications community and those who volunteer and work at our events – we will be cancelling all scheduled events for March and April, with the exception of our open board meeting which we are exploring to hold virtually. All ticket holders will receive refunds via follow-up communication with further details and more information will be made available for our open board meeting.
We will be actively looking into other ways we can deliver our services in creative and more virtual ways to maintain our community and connection during the shifts and changes to come. As we work through this, we hope to share more on this soon via our newsletter, website and social channels.
As business communicators, we are uniquely positioned to be in the front-lines of any crisis or event. We’re oftentimes the unseen person behind the speech, the release, the strategy, the employee FAQs, the crisis communications plan, and everything in between. This situation surrounding COVID-19 is undoubtedly no exception. Please be sure to take advantage of the COVID-19 communications resources IABC has provided to support you.
If you have any general questions or comments, please reach out to me at calgary-executive@iabc.com.
Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones. You might be tired, but you’re not alone and we’re all in this together.
Sincerely,
Natasha Qereshniku
President, IABC/Calgary
