President – Natasha Qereshniku
With ten years of experience, Natasha is a senior communicator who has worked on strategic, cross-corporate communications for both internal and external audiences in support of highly complex programs. With a focus on strategic problem-solving, issues management and senior leadership support, she currently leads communications for The City of Calgary’s high-profile Business Friendly initiatives. Prior to that, she led communications for The City’s 2019-2022 planning and budget cycle. Natasha holds a BA in Communications Studies from the University of Calgary and completed coursework in collaborative conflict resolution, mediation and negotiation. An IABC/Calgary member since 2012, this is her fifth year on the board.
Did you know: Natasha was born in Rome and speaks fluent Italian!
Vice President – Tim Shaw
Tim is a long-time IABC member and has been involved as a volunteer with both the Calgary and Toronto chapters. He brings over 10 years experience in planning and implementing advocacy and communications strategies in the healthcare, non-profit, pharma, tech and energy industries. Tim works for the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association where he is the senior communications advisor, advocacy and industry initiatives.
Did you know: Tim had a brush with stardom as an extra on Gilmore Girls!
Past President – Sharon Lee
Sharon has more than 10 years of experience working in the private and not-for-profit sectors. As a communications consultant, she is passionate about helping clients tell their stories. Sharon has been volunteering for IABC/Calgary for a number of years, including being on the board for five years and helping with the 50th anniversary gala event. Sharon has a Master of Arts in Communication and Culture, University of Calgary, and has an Advanced Social Media Certificate from the University of San Francisco.
Did you know: Sharon was a Bollywood dancer for years and performed on stage a few times!
Director, Sponsorship – Alyssa Berry
Alyssa Berry has 18 years of marketing and communications experience in municipal government, recreation, culture, and tourism. In 2015, Alyssa launched Alyssa Berry Communications, a boutique firm specializing in providing full-service strategies for clients in the tourism and culture sectors. Dedicated to her city, Alyssa volunteers with IABC Calgary’s mentorship program, sits as past-president for Doors Open YYC and is stylist for the Making Changes Society.
Did you know: Alyssa launched a 32′ cowboy hat in the Toronto harbour!
Director, Finance – Christina Casallas
Christina has over nine years of experience working in communications in the non-profit sector, in a Crown corporation and as part of municipal and federal government. Passionate about continually learning, Christina enjoys working with internal and external clients to identify emerging issues and develop and execute communications strategies to enhance projects both large and small.
Did you know: Christina has snorkelled with sharks in the Galapagos Islands!
Co-Director, Member Communications (Web) – Kristy Dixon
Kristy is a marketing communications leader always seeking to learn, enable others to communicate effectively and build brands. She works remotely for social enterprise Pollinate Group and has experience including startups and utilities. Kristy holds a BA Communications (University of SA) and a Masters in Project Management (University of Adelaide).
Did you know: Kristy moved to Canada for the ice climbing but stayed for the skiing!
Director, Volunteer Services and Development – Kristen Dyck
Kristen is founder of AVRO Creative where she is a personal brand strategist. Previously she was Communications Manager, later Communications Advisor to the President at United Way Calgary. Today, she uses more than ten years of marketing, communication and brand experience helping women achieve their goals with her personal branding process.
Did you know: Kristen has a four inch titanium rod fused to her spine!
Co-Director, Member Communications (Newsletter) – Jenica Foster
Jenica has a Bachelor of Communication in Journalism and a Minor in Marketing from MRU. Over the past five years she has worked for a commercial property management company managing communications and business development. Jenica has volunteered for IABC/Calgary since 2017 and is currently working towards a Digital Communications Certificate.
Did you know: Jenica started playing the cello after being inspired by the movie, If I Stay, and has been loving it for almost four years now!
Co-Director, Professional Development – Tami Hutchinson
Tami has more than 15 years of communications experience working in agency, corporate and not-for-profit organizations. As a communications consultant, Tami provides branding and reputation strategies, writing services and full-service communications for clients. Tami has a Communications degree from the University of Calgary, and a Print Journalism diploma from SAIT.
Did you know: Tami used to be a wedding photographer, and also did lighting corrections and retouching for several studios in Calgary!
Co-Director, Career Services – Michelle MacPherson
Founder of Maven & Mention, Michelle is a communications consultant, creative thinker and champion of community – with a zest for storytelling and a love of branding and all things social. With 20 years in marketing communications, Michelle gets jazzed about creating meaningful content and shaping memorable brand experiences. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Distinction from the University of Alberta School of Business, as well as Digital Communications and Social Media for Business Certificates from Mount Royal University Continuing Education. She’s also a new mama, avid foodie, lifelong traveller, outdoor enthusiast, active volunteer and supporter of the arts.
Did you know: Michelle discovered her passion for communications at an early age, publishing a quarterly newsletter, Sensational Sixers, for her grade six homeroom class!
Director, Administration – James Mottershead
James Mottershead began his career in communications in 2010 and has held positions in the retail, energy, non-profit and education sectors. He is currently a senior communications advisor with TransAlta. He holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Calgary and a Public Relations Certificate from MRU.
Did you know: In a previous life, James worked as a professional makeup artist and still moonlights as one from time to time.
Director, Marketing – Rio Pisony
With a Bachelor of International Management from the University of Lethbridge, Rio has spent the last six years in Calgary supporting strategic communications projects. With an excitement for digital marketing including web design, social media and analytics, Rio recently stepped into a full-time consulting role to help small businesses tell their story.
Did you know: Rio ate guinea pig when I was doing a five-day hike across Peru to end in Machu Pichu!
Co-Director, Professional Development – Amanda Sadleir
Amanda has eight years of communication experience and is currently Manager, Communications at AltaLink. What she really loves is the ability to influence and connect people through storytelling. She has a broadcast news diploma from SAIT and a Bachelor of Arts – Political Science and International Studies from the University of New Brunswick.
Did you know: Amanda was born and raised in Calgary but has also lived in the Northwest Territories, New Brunswick, Egypt and Washington D.C!
Director, Professional Standards – Donna Sinclair
Donna has been in the industry for over 20 years, working in both private and public sectors. Having previously been involved in IABC as a Gold Quill judge and with IABC/Calgary as a co-facilitator for the Accreditation Completion Program, exam proctor and as Director of Volunteer Services from 2014-2017, Donna is looking forward to contributing once again to our great organization.
Did you know: Donna travelled to 17 countries in 2018, just for fun!
Co-Director, Career Services – Brandie Wright
Brandie is a senior communicator with 15+ years’ experience. She is currently working at The City of Calgary where she has worked in marketing, advertising and communications. Brandie has a bachelor’s degree with honours in International Studies and an advanced bachelor’s degree with honours in Business Administration. She loves to travel and is a foodie.

Work with IABC headquarters and the President of IABC/Calgary to ensure our membership numbers are accurate and troubleshoot issues as they arise. Ensure that IABC continues to be marketed to lapsed members, corporate members and unsigned prospects. Develop activities that welcome new members to IABC/Calgary. Develop and execute our chapter’s biannual membership survey. Work with other directors to develop membership feedback forums and ensure the Membership section of IABC/Calgary website is current.
Director, Student Development
Liaise with educational institutions to promote IABC/Calgary as the professional association of choice for Communication/Public Relations students and educators. Oversee the organization of professional development events for students and/or junior practitioners, in conjunction with other portfolios. Ensure Students section of IABC/Calgary website is current and promotes student development opportunities and manage our Student Ambassador Program.
